Video recordings of each attendee’s conducting and teaching will be used for in-depth individual and group analysis. Camp faculty will work closely with each student to build a solid foundation of conducting, leadership, and teaching methods. Drum Major Leadership Campĭesigned specifically for drum majors and section leaders, the Drum Major Leadership Camp focuses on the various aspects of field conducting and leadership in both competitive and non-competitive marching bands. The skills in design thinking and creative experience gained at Design Camp can empower students on their path toward becoming innovative problem solvers and prepare them to tackle the challenges of the future. Pre college programs for high school students brown series#
Design Campĭesign Camp is an annual series of pre-college summer programs offered at NC State University College of Design to high school and middle school students who are interested in design. To further enhance the transdisciplinary nature of this project, students may also select research experiences in closely related disciplines within natural resources and textiles. Students select research experiences in agriculture and life science disciplines such as biochemistry, biotechnology, organic agriculture, soil science, microbiology, plant biology, food science, and forensics. Students learn, under the guidance of NC State faculty mentors, cutting-edge scientific techniques in NC State laboratories. The CAALS 3-D is a week-long day program that serves male, rising 11th and 12th graders from under-represented groups (African-American, Hispanic/Latino, and Native American). Creating Awareness of Agriculture and Life Sciences Disciplines, Degree Programs and Discoveries (CAALS 3-D) Project Campers must be recommended by their high school administrator prior to registration. Students will learn to operate cameras, audio boards, write news copy, and present as on-air talent, culminating in a closed circuit “live broadcast” at week’s end.
Communication CampĬommunication Summer Camp is an intensive, five-day workshop designed for rising junior and senior high school students interested in television production, broadcasting, and public speaking. Workshops will feature opportunities to learn about university student life, engage in topics as they relate to the Latinx/Hispanic community and higher education, and receive assistance with the college application and financial aid process. This program provides workshops for students that identify as Hispanic/Latinx or have an interest in Hispanic/Latinx Culture. CAMINOS: Your Journey to CollegeĬAMINOS: Your Journey to College is a pre-college summer preparation program for rising high school juniors and seniors that presents future scholars to opportunities within and around higher education while reinforcing cultural identity and community ties. Students also participate in character and team-building activities and diversity workshops. For more information, visit The Science House website. Participants gain experience through hands-on labs, workshops, and field trips. Students live on the college campus and learn about science from university professors and practicing entomologists, botanists, and plant pathologists. Ag-DISCOVERYĪg-DISCOVERY is a two-week residential camp for students designed to help high school students (age 14-17) learn about careers in plant science and veterinary medicine. North Carolina 4-H Camp programs offer campers a great chance to learn, develop life skills and form attitudes that will help them to become self-directing and productive members of society. Students enroll in undergraduate courses from a wide array of disciplines taught by Penn faculty, staff, and visiting scholars and are in class alongside other Penn undergrads. The Pre-College Programs are designed for academically curious high school students interested in the intellectual challenge of Ivy League academics.
